Scania's DC16 is a 16-litre V8 diesel engine — the only V8 in production in modern European trucking. It traces its lineage to the DS14 V8 of the 1969 LB140 and has been offered continuously ever since, making it the oldest V8 truck engine in continuous production. The 660 hp DC16 in the R 660 Super is the most powerful commercially available truck engine in Europe. Scania's V8 is a genuine brand icon: the V8 badge on the grille commands a price premium of €15,000–€25,000.
