🔧 Saab B-Series Turbocharged Engine
Saab's B-series engine family is a turbocharged inline-four derived from a Triumph Slant-Four that Saab purchased the tooling for in 1968. What Saab did with that architecture — applying turbocharging as early as 1977 in the 99 Turbo — created the template for every compact turbocharged car that followed. The B201 in the 900 Turbo, the B234 in the 9000 T16, and the B235R in the 9-3 Viggen all share the same transversely-mounted architecture. The 9-3 Viggen's 230 hp and 350 Nm from 2.3 litres was ahead of its class in 1999.
