⚙️ Ford C4 Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission
Ford's C4 SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic was the premium 3-speed automatic paired with small-block and mid-block Ford V8s from 1964 to 1981. Its aluminium case made it 18 kg lighter than comparable Chevrolet units, and its robust construction handled the 289, 302, and 351 Windsor V8s. The Mustang, Thunderbird, and Galaxie 500 all used the C4 as the automatic option behind their respective V8s — the same bell housing pattern fitting all Ford small-block engine displacements from 260ci to 351ci.
