⛽ Solex 28/30 PICT Carburettor
The Solex PICT (Progressive Induction Carburation Tranquille) series was the standard carburettor for the Volkswagen air-cooled flat-four and Porsche 356. Its novel downdraft design with a progressive secondary choke allowed smooth idle and strong power with a simple, reliable mechanism. The Volkswagen Beetle, Type 1, and Porsche 356A all used variants of the same Solex PICT in their 1.1–1.5L air-cooled engines. The carburettor's emulsion tube, main jet, and idle circuit are interchangeable across all VW/Porsche applications.
