🔧 Chrysler 426 HEMI V8 Engine
The Chrysler 426 HEMI arrived in 1964 and within a year had dominated NASCAR and NHRA drag racing. Its hemispherical combustion chambers allow larger valves, superior airflow, and a higher compression ratio than conventional wedge-head engines. Rated conservatively at 425 hp, actual output was nearer 500 hp. The 426 HEMI was optional across the entire Mopar B-body range — Charger, Challenger, Super Bee, and Coronet all shared the same engine block, connecting rods, and cylinder heads.
