⚙️ Tremec T56 Magnum 6-Speed Manual Gearbox
The Tremec T56 is the 6-speed manual gearbox that transformed American muscle car performance. Originally developed by Borg-Warner and then acquired by Tremec, it was adopted by both Dodge for the Viper Gen 1 (1992) and GM for the Corvette C5 Z06. The T56's aluminium case, 6-speed close-ratio pattern, and computer-synchronised shifts were unprecedented for an American production sports car. Both the Viper and C5 Z06 use T56 with different input shaft dimensions but the same gear cluster and shift mechanism, meaning the synchro rings, input shaft bearing, and reverse lockout are shared service parts.
