🔧 Toyota 4A-GE Twin Cam Engine
The Toyota 4A-GE was co-developed with Yamaha and debuted in the 1983 AE86 Corolla. A 1.6-litre DOHC 16-valve unit revving to 7,800 rpm, it set the benchmark for lightweight naturally aspirated performance engines of the 1980s. The same engine went into the first-generation MR2, the Corolla GT, and later the AE111 Sprinter Trueno with T-VIS variable intake geometry and eventually variable valve timing (Blacktop/Silvertop variants).
