🔧 Porsche M96/M97 3.4–3.8L Flat-6
The M96 and M97 flat-six engines powered the Porsche 996 and 997 911, Boxster 986/987, and Cayman 987 from 1997 to 2012. Controversial for their "Intermediate Shaft Bearing" (IMS) failure on some early units, the basic architecture was outstanding — lightweight, rev-happy, and delivering up to 381 hp in Turbo S form. Porsche addressed the IMS issue in later production.
