🔧 Mercedes-Benz M117 V8 Engine
The Mercedes-Benz M117 is the DOHC twin-cam V8 that defined the top of the Mercedes range from 1971 to 1991. Its 4.5L version powered the 450SEL 6.9 (widely considered the fastest saloon of its era); the 5.6L version produced 300 hp in the 560 SEC — an extraordinary figure for 1985. The W116 S-Class, the 450SEL, and the 560 SEC all share the M117 block architecture, crankshaft, and timing chain — a common engine spanning 20 years of Mercedes flagship products.
