🔧 Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer Flat-12 Engine
Ferrari's Berlinetta Boxer (BB) engine is a 180° flat-12 — technically a horizontally-opposed 12-cylinder — mounted mid-rear behind the driver in the 365 BB, 512 BBi, and Testarossa. At 4.4L and 5.0L, it was the most powerful production car engine of its era. The Testarossa's "testa rossa" (red head) label comes from the painted cam covers shared with the 512 BBi. Both the 512 BBi and Testarossa share the same block dimensions, crankshaft bearing spacing, and dry-sump lubrication — an example of Ferrari carrying a fundamentally identical engine across two production generations.
