⚙️ Porsche 901 / 915 5-Speed Manual Gearbox
Porsche's 901 and successor 915 5-speed gearboxes are the transaxle units that gave every early 911 its precise, if notoriously long-throw, gear changes. The 901 debuted with the 1963 911 and was the first 5-speed gearbox in a production sports car. The 914-6 shared the 901 unit with the 911 T-spec, giving the mid-engine 914 the same gearbox as the rear-engine 911. The 915 replaced the 901 in 1972 and added a reversed H-pattern with 5th gear top-right. Both gearboxes share the same bell housing dimensions and are interchangeable across their respective generations.
