Volkswagen Phaeton V12
Ferdinand Piëch's personal project was the most ambitious Volkswagen ever built — a full-size luxury sedan that had to be capable of 300 km/h, maintain 50°C cabin temperature in desert heat, and cost no more than a top-spec Golf to build. The 6.0-litre W12 version came closest to fulfilling Piëch's impossible brief.
