The 348 introduced a longitudinally mounted V8 with a transversely mounted gearbox — a layout giving superior weight distribution. Styling by Pininfarina took cues from the Testarossa with horizontal side strakes, and the 300-hp engine delivered a genuinely modern sports car experience.
